Springtime in San Diego features mild weather, plenty of sunshine, and a variety of events, festivals, and concerts to enjoy. March through May is one of the best times of year to enjoy outdoor activities in America’s Finest City. Whether you love art, flowers, Mexican culture, or classical cars, San Diego hosts the perfect springtime event for you. Check out these upcoming local events taking place just outside your BLVD63 apartment door and get into the swing of spring!

Art Alive 2014
This April, the San Diego Museum of Art will celebrate its annual Art Alive event. This fundraising exhibition features unique, colorful, and fragrant depictions of modern and classical art using floral arrangements. During Art Alive, the Museum’s main rotunda is also transformed into a whimsical garden experience that marries art and nature. This year’s rotunda display will feature exhibits inspired by Spanish Baroque architecture and Granada’s Alhambra palace and fortress complex. The three-day event will take place on April 11th, 12th, and 13th, with a program that includes garden activities, a jewelry trunk show, and a members’ preview of the event on the first morning before the museum opens to the public.

Old Town Fiesta Cinco de Mayo
Are you ready to experience Mexican culture during a celebration you won’t soon forget? 2014 marks the 30th celebration of the largest Cinco de Mayo festival in the United States. This free event takes place from May 3-5, featuring specialty shops, museums, and two events stages with all-day performances of Mexican dance and music. Enjoy an ice-cold beer or a shot of the smoothest tequila you’ll ever taste as you wind your way through this colorful and lively festival.

If you are a car enthusiast, you won’t want to miss the La Jolla Concours d'Elegance. This amazing high-class automobile event showcases some of history’s finest jewels, including Rolls Royce, Cadillac, Duesenberg, Bentley, and Bugatti. The goal of the Concours d'Elegance is to display some of the finest “automobile art” for public viewing against the elegant natural backdrop of the La Jolla shoreline. Over the course of the past three years, this even has become one of the largest concours d’elegance events in the state of California. During this three-day celebration of fine automobiles, you can enjoy a variety of gatherings ranging from formal dress events and cocktails to more casual gatherings and discussions.

San Diego Annual Gator by the Bay
The San Diego Annual Gator by the Bay festival will celebrate its 15th year this spring. Presented in part by the Louisiana Office of Tourism, this Zydeco, blues, and crawfish festival features music, food, dance lessons, and cooking demonstrations straight from the heart of the Deep South. Festival-goers will enjoy 25 bands performing across five stages as they weave through the festival marketplace to explore unique arts, crafts, jewelry, and more. Street performers offer family-friendly fun and surprises around every corner, while food vendors offer a variety of authentic Southern food—including 10,000 pounds of crawfish—everyone is sure to enjoy.
