Broomfield/Louisville
Loop Trail
The Broomfield/Louisville Loop Trail takes hikers through
three different communities on an 11.7-mile hike. As you walk through
Broomfield and the nearby areas of Lafayette and Louisville, you’ll encounter
creeks, ponds, wide open park spaces, and even a large pumpkin farm. The trail utilizes
underpasses when crossing major roads, making it safe for hikers of all ages
and abilities.
Dirty Bismarck Loop
Just a few miles from central Broomfield is the Dirty
Bismarck Loop, recently completed in 2011. This trail is often considered the
“mountain bike version” of the famous Morgul-Bismarck bike racecourse, making
it a popular choice for many local mountain bikers. The Dirty Bismarck Loop
covers 12.1 miles through varying types of terrain. Although the trail is
challenging in a few spots, the majority of the Loop is a comfortable and
enjoyable ride for all.
Big Dry Creek Trail
The Big Dry Creek Trail will take you from Standley Lake on
a trek around South and West Broomfield before ending at I-25. This trail
features a mix of concrete and gravel surfaces that are ideal for walking or
biking. Along the way, you’ll see plenty of wildlife, including hawks, coyotes,
and gophers throughout much of the year. You can choose to stay on the
10.1-mile trail all the way to the end, or take one of the many branching
trails along the way to explore the surrounding areas.
Coal Creek Trail
The Coal
Creek Trail offers year-round appeal as it passes through the nearby
regions of Louisville, Superior, and Lafayette, CO. This family-friendly trail
spans a length of 6.2 miles, but offers a number of offshoot trails as it
passes through a variety of wide open natural spaces. You’ll enjoy plenty of
shade in the summer and flat surfaces for hiking and even snowshoeing in the
winter. The Coal Creek Trail is a soft-surface dirt and gravel trail ideal for
mountain biking, hiking, or jogging during warm weather.
