The Regional
Transportation District light rail provides service in the Denver area with
170 vehicles on 47 miles of track. The light rail is divided into six lines and
46 stations, allowing you to experience all the city of Denver has to offer without
the need to drive or park your car. Keep reading to discover some of the unique

light rail.
Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park is open May through
October with thrill rides, family rides, water rides, and more to satisfy even
the most daring and adventure-loving spirit. Accessible on the C, E, and W
light rail lines, Elitch Gardens has been open for more than a century and is
historically one of Colorado’s most popular entertainment destinations. In
addition to the theme park and water park attractions, Elitch Gardens also
features a botanical garden and hosts numerous family-friendly shows and special
events. Over the summer, you can enjoy events that include Music in the Park,
Physics Night, band and choir concerts, and Colorado Great Outdoors and
Wildlife Days with the Colorado State Parks Association and the Department of
Wildlife. If you plan to frequent Elitch Gardens this summer, the park offers
various VIP experiences and season passes to enhance your experience.
The 16th Street Mall
Located just two blocks from the light rail station at the
Marriott City Center, the 16th Street mall is a 16-block pedestrian mall
features shopping, dining, and more to suit every style and budget. You can enjoy
happy hour specials at restaurants and bars including Maggiano’s Little
Italy, Howl At the Moon, Cru Wine Bar, and Ocean Prime. Once your shopping day
is complete, you can hitch a ride on the free shuttle bus that runs the entire
length of the mall for a quick trip back to the light rail station to take you
home.
Washington Park
Denver’s Washington Park was named one of the “Great Public
Spaces in America” in 2012. This 165-acre city park is one of the largest such
parks in Denver and features historic buildings, a recreation center with
sports facilities, numerous paths for biking or jogging, and extensive flower
gardens. Washington Park is popular among Denver residents and tourists alike,
who come to spend time with family and friends, enjoy sports or exercise, and
take part in a variety of community programs. The park hosts over 250 picnics
each year, and you can view Denver Country Club’s spectacular Fourth of July
fireworks from the lawn. Before you head home, you can take advantage of the numerous
shops, restaurants, and cafes lining the park’s perimeter. Three light rail
stops provide convenient access to Washington Park: Louisiana/Pearl station,
University of Denver station, and Broadway Station.
